- Finish Camp (I’ve got less than 2k left to go),
- Turn in at least two submissions to lit mags, and
- Start a new book (I haven’t been reading much since the beginning of camp).
If all goes according to plan, by tonight I should have a winner’s certificate and a few more entries into my submission tracker. Then I will reward myself by designing a few business cards for the Port Townsend Writer’s Conference in July.
Oh, I’ve missed you! I’ve been neglecting my blogging duties as well as my tumblr page. I’m excited to keep up with everyone again. I’ve posted on “On the Writing Front” as well (which is where this link leads). My new blog is about my 2013 Writing Resolutions. What are your resolutions for 2013?
Omg, I totally fell off the face of the earth when I moved back to WA, haha. More writing themed updates as soon as I get my work/writing/social calendar in order once again. Things I get to look forward to:
- Writer’s group
- Jagger’s first birthday
- Back to school with the kiddos (I didn’t realize how much I really missed them until I saw them again)
- Finishing the first draft of “The World at War” (and renaming it too)
…my birthday month. Mark it on your calendar, folks. July 12th. It should be a national holiday. Joy Day. There. Done. Celebrate it with cupcakes and by buying yourself a new book.
…short story month for me. I will be writing more short stories to submit to anthologies and the like. I’m hoping to write one a day. That’s 30 submissions. Cross your fingers for me!
…filled with vampires. Why is it that all of the short story anthologies that I’ve found have to do with vampires or zombies? Well, okay, maybe not ALL. Just 50%. That’s still a large chunk of vampire stories though…
…the middle of summer.
…an awesome month because it has my mom’s birthday in it as well. July 14th. Mark it on your calendars. Joy’s Mom’s Day. Celebrate it with sugar free macaroons and get yourself something pretty.
…just starting. :)
So I finished last November’s novel with no problem. I finished it at approximately 60k, I had enough material, my characters weren’t argumentative (well, only when I wanted them to be), no problems whatsoever. This novel is giving me some issues.
It seems that I’ve grown bored of it with only 8k more to go. I think I can finish it before June 30th no problem but I’ve been so distracted since week 2 hit. Plot bunnies have popped up out of the woodwork. I’ve been avoiding it because I’m afraid of running out of material.
This is not good.
Must.
Finish.
Novel.
Only.
8k.
More.
To.
Go…
…there was no writing done yesterday. Just a lot of reading, some playing, some tanning, a touch of sunburn, and a lot of people watching.
But today! There will be some writing done today! Huzzah!
…is filled with family activities: going to the beach, shopping for supplies, shopping for other things, Shanghai, etc. I’m having fun but haven’t really gotten a chance to write all week. Luckily, I got 35k during my first week so (Jake says) I can slack off this week.
So today is Beach Day with Jake’s cousins (otherwise known as, “OMG, I feel so fat in anything other than jeans and a t-shirt” Day). I can’t bring my laptop and don’t have a tablet or iPad so I’ll have to go old school and bring a pen and some paper if I want to write. I, at least, want to outline the last half of my novel.
Besides, I’ve got a write-in on Saturday so I can catch up then.
…not to get back onto tumblr until I reach 20k!
Unless, of course, no one is sprinting on the NaNo forums. In which case, I will be back to bug you guys until someone sprints with me.
Good luck everyone!
…that every day of any NaNo event should start with a quote from Chuck Wendig.
On that note, it’s off to the word mines. I’m aiming for a personal best today. Word sprint anyone? You know I’m going to keep asking until I get a taker today. So…who wants to do a word sprint with me? Message me, wrimos!
Total Word Count: 10,179
Word Count for Today: 4,058
If I do this again tomorrow, I can make my goal for this weekend.
At this rate I’ll finish on: June 9th…
Total word count: 6,122 (I didn’t make 7k like I had hoped…but I did double my day one total from NaNoWriMo last November)
Total jobs applied for: 6 (including that internship…which shouldn’t really count cause I wouldn’t get paid for it…)
I asked Jake if we could see Prometheus on Tuesday if I could reach 10k by then. I’m hoping that I can keep up this pace so we can go see some Alien Prequel Awesomeness… :)
My goal for this weekend (just Saturday and Sunday) is 7,995 words. So, hopefully, by Monday I should have 14,117. I just did that in my head after getting three hours of sleep last night and staring at my computer all day, cooking dinner, doing chores…I don’t know if I got that right… Anyway, it’s bedtime…
Camp Nano starts on Friday? …I think I’ll revamp my whole plot…
